Iranian Protests

There’s doesn’t seem to be any sign of the anti government protests in Iran subsiding. Indeed if anything, they are spreading. Over 100 demonstraters have been killed by the security forces, the state has shut down the Internet and airline companies are cancelling flights.

The protests, caused by economic collapse, leading to price rises of food, are very similar to the events that led to the ousting of the Shah in 1979. Indeed the Shah’s son, exiled in the USA, is waiting in the wings, anticipating a return to his homeland and possibly take power. Very interesting times we are living in.
