During his speech at Davos today, Donald Trump made the claim that without the USA during World War 2, the world today would be speaking German and Japanese.
This is incredible as for most of that war ( 1941 onwards), most of the fighting in Europe was in Eastern Europe between the Germans and the USSR. Britain had already defeated the Germans at the Battle of Britain in 1940, when the Americans were still neutral.
Indeed if the USSR had continued to advance further, it could even be claimed that the world would be speaking Russian today!
Trump must have got most of his knowledge of that war from Hollywood, who always rewrite history.
