Burns Night

Last night, my wife and I had the pleasure of attending a Burns Night supper, hosted by two Scottish friends of mine.

The evening, Celebrating the Scottish poet Robert Burns, is as much a cultural event as well as a supper. The event includes poetry, music and a traditional where addresses are given towards ‘The lassies and laddies’

The food consists of a Scotch Broth soup, Haggis (A meat dish), tatties (mashed potatoes) and needs (Swedes). That is followed by dessert and washed down by whisky.

It is a Scottish cultural tradition which is truly unforgettable, even for an English man such as myself.
