I wonder how many remember the novelty song ‘Shaddap You Face’ by the Italian American Joe Dolce. Based on his childhood memories, it was number one in the British charts for three weeks, 45 years ago.
It will certainly be remembered by Midge Ure of Ultravox, as they were stuck at number 2, with the imaginative ‘Vienna’ while Dolce had the ultimate chart glory.
It has become one of the ultimate examples of so near but yet so far, but often a novelty record captures the hearts of people.
