Today the Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, to what he calls saving Britain pubs.

Over the last 20 years, a considerable number of pubs have closed, aggravated by the cost of living crisis and the Covid 19 pandemic.

The feeling is so strong that some pubs have banned Labour MP’s from their premises.

However the reasons for this problem are more complex. The price of alcoholic drinks is now very much higher, and cheaper drinks are available at Supermarkets.

Younger people today also drink much less these days, rejecting the traditional British binge drinking culture, wishing to keep fit in the gym or gaming. Plus in this social media age, abusing alcohol doesn’t look good on their carefully curated profiles.

Politicians can do what they want, but what they propose doesn’t do anything to deal with the trends that lead to these pub closures.
