Anything and Everything

The other day in the Guardian newspaper, the above article appeared, claiming that Spanish is the world’s ‘Coolest language’ based it seems, that Bad Bunny highlighted at the Super Bowl.

This peculiar claim surely does warrant a response. If Spanish is ‘cool’ does that mean that French, which is the main foreign language taught in British schools ‘uncool’

A language is something that belongs to and is spoken by a people of  particular nation and culture. It doesn’t suddenly become fashionable or unfashionable, as if we were talking about the whims of the advertising industry.

As it happens, I do think that Spanish is a beautiful language and there is nothing wrong in learning it, but other languages  are equally beautiful too.
