Today has marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of the much loved British comedian Eric Morecambe. Together with his comedy partner Ernie Wise, he delighted audiences for many years.
At first they were slammed by the critics but by the 1970s were an essential part of BBC TV light entertainment. With help from the writer Eddie Braben, they entertained the nation with their sketches.
At the end of their shows, when you heard the song ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ you usually felt happier after watching them.
Sadly Eric died in 1984 after a major heart attack, but this wonderful man left a legacy of laughter that has not been forgotten.
