The Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, has expressed anger after American President Donald Trump claimed, falsely, that she ‘Begged’ him to take a photo with her at the recent G7 summit in France.
Saying that she would never beg anyone, she was left wondering why Trump has a habit of insulting his allies, in contrast to the way he behaves towards enemy nations (Presumably Russia and China).
Meloni who is a right wing nationalist and was once close to the current US administration. Differences over the war in Iran and Trump’s criticism of the Pope have badly damaged the relationship.
If this sort of behaviour continues, Trump will find that the USA becomes friendless and isolated, and will have nobody to blame but themselves.
